What we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and delivery address.
  • Order details: what you bought, when, what you paid and your delivery history.
  • Payment details: handled by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Account details: your login and saved addresses, if you create an account.
  • Messages: emails and support requests you send us, including photos for a return or guarantee claim.
  • Reviews: the name, rating, words and photos you choose to share in a product review.
  • Website data: your device, browser, IP address, pages visited and how you found us, collected by cookies and similar tools.

Most of this comes straight from you when you order, sign up, write a review or contact us. Some is collected automatically when you browse. Payment and fraud prevention partners can also share information with us to confirm an order is genuine.

You can browse without giving us your name. We need your contact and delivery details to fill an order.

How we use it

  • To process, pack and deliver your order and keep you updated.
  • To answer your questions and handle returns, refunds and guarantee claims.
  • To send marketing emails and texts, only if you have agreed to receive them.
  • To show you relevant ads on other websites and apps, such as Facebook, Instagram and Google.
  • To understand how people use our website so we can improve it.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website and your account secure.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We share only what each partner needs to do their job for us. They are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes. The types of partners we use are:

  • Our online store platform and website hosting (Shopify).
  • Payment providers, such as card processors, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay.
  • Our warehouse, couriers and postal services.
  • Email, text message and customer support tools.
  • Our product review platform.
  • Advertising and analytics platforms, such as Meta and Google.
  • Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers.

We also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our customers, our business or the public from fraud or harm.

Overseas storage

Because our company is based in the United States, your information is sent overseas. It is stored and processed in the United States, and by our partners in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the country of our warehouse.

We choose established providers and require them to keep your information secure and confidential. Privacy laws in other countries can differ from those in Australia and New Zealand.

Emails and texts

We only send marketing emails or texts if you have opted in, for example by joining our newsletter or ticking the box at checkout.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Reply STOP to any marketing text to opt out. You can also email us and we will remove you. Order updates and delivery emails still come through, because they are part of your purchase.

If you give us your mobile number for texts, we use it only for MarshieMat messages. We do not share your mobile number or text opt-in with anyone for their own marketing. Message and data rates can apply.

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files saved by your browser. We use them to keep items in your cart, keep you signed in and understand which pages are useful.

Advertising partners like Meta and Google also use cookies and pixels on our site. They help us measure our ads and show them to people likely to enjoy our products. We also use them to remind you about items left in your cart.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website still works, although your cart and login will not be remembered.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Show you the personal information we have on file and send you a copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete your information, unless the law requires us to keep it.
  • Stop sending you marketing.

Email info@marshiemat.com. We check your identity first, then reply within 30 days. There is no charge.

How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for 7 years for tax and accounting reasons. Account details stay while your account is open. We keep support emails for 3 years after your question is resolved. After that, we delete or de-identify your information securely.

Keeping it safe

Our website uses encrypted connections, and access to customer information is limited to people who need it. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the relevant privacy regulator.

Children

Our website is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email info@marshiemat.com first. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the privacy regulator:
