Setting it up

1. Unroll it in its new home. Cut the plastic carefully, away from the mat, and roll it out flat.
2. Let the foam wake up. The 35 mm foam starts rising as soon as air gets in. Most mats lie flat within a few hours.
3. Give it a full day. Allow up to 24 hours for full thickness. A heavy book on a curled corner speeds it up.
4. Air out any new smell. Fresh foam can smell for a day or two. An open window clears it.

Everyday care

• Wipe spills straight away with a damp cloth.
• For a stubborn mark, use a little mild soapy water, then wipe dry.
• Vacuum it weekly like a rug. Twice a week with pets.
• Turn it around every few months so it wears evenly.
• Lift it when you mop, and let the floor dry before you put it back.

Setting it up

1. Unroll it on the bed. Open the packaging and lay the topper on your mattress, quilted side up.
2. Give it a shake. Hold two corners and shake it out. It puts air back into the fill.
3. Pull on the skirt. Hook the elastic skirt over one corner, then the diagonal corner, then the other two. Smooth it flat.
4. Wait for the loft. Allow 24 hours for the full 10 cm. Your own fitted sheet goes straight over the top.

Everyday care

• Use a mattress protector over the top to keep it fresh.
• Spot clean the cover with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Let it dry fully before you make the bed.
• Air it on a dry, sunny day every few months.
• Give it a shake and turn it head to foot when you change the sheets. The fill stays even.
